Winter Brich Trees
Winter Brich Trees
Watercolour
Before we started painting, we looked at colourful sky photos to get inspired.
With watercolour the students created a winter atmosphere choosing cool colours for their sky.
On another paper we used a piece of cardboard and black paint to create the typical birch tree stems.
Very atmospheric...!

Oil Pastels
The first snow was falling and I thought, a fun winter project would be perfect, since all kids love snow and catching snowflakes with their togue ;-)
I can't stop looking at them! Aren't they cute?!!!

Paul Klee inspired Pastel Drawing
This project is one of my favourites!
Today we learned about the artist Paul Klee, about balance in art and drawing with pastels.
Look at these works - they are just amazing!!!
Well done grade 2B artists :-)
As an introduction the students watched a video about the Swiss/German artist Paul Klee and how he used balance and rhythm in art. Then we talked about his famous painting "Cat and Bird".

Complementary Zebra 2B
Complementary Zebra
Mixed media project with oil paste and water colour
We started with a guided pencil drawing of the zebra head. The students received a paper with a grid that helped them to draw the zebra with the right proportions. With the same grid on the white board I guided them through the drawing. We looked at different Zebra photos before the students started to draw their individual stripe pattern.
Then the students chose a pastel in their favourite colour and a complementary colour to colour the zebra. A third complementary colour was finally chosen for the watercolour background.
Happy Zebras in a colourful world :-)
Picasso inspired self portrait 2B
Welcome to the Art Club Course
for Grade 2B
We started with a Picasso inspired self portrait session. The students watched a video about Pablo Picasso, and learned about Cubism and the difference between Abstract Art and Realistic Art. We talked about some of Picasso's portraits and his cubist approach. The students also learned about the colour wheel and complementary colours. I gave an introduction to watercolour painting and the kids started with a guided pencil drawing of their Picasso inspired portrait.

Autumn Trees
Autumn Trees
This season is so colorful and the kids loved the leaf project so much, that we decided to continue with another autumn project. We used black liquid watercolour to blow with a straw to create the stem. Then fresh leafs, ripped in little pieces were glued on the paper to create than impression of falling leafs.
